LITTLE BROWNIE’S SUSTAINABILITY APPROACH

Ferrero and Little Brownie Bakers take our responsibility to establish forward-looking sustainability practices seriously by focusing on improvements in our operations and actively engaging partners across our value chain. We consider the environmental impact of all our business practices with a focus on the most impactful areas, including Girl Scout Cookie products and packaging, council rewards, and printed council resources.

Girl Scout Cookie Program

Cookies & Packaging

  • We are focused on creating a thriving supply chain that benefits farmers and their communities and protects people and the environment through practices that ensure responsible sourcing.
  • We are working towards a target of recyclable, compostable, or biodegradable packaging.

Rewards

  • We prioritize reusable or recyclable individual packaging for reward items.
  • We prioritize the use of recycled materials and natural fibers when financially viable.
  • We prioritize reusability of items when curating rewards lineups.

Printed Resources

  • We work with our council partners to reduce the amount of printed stock, special print and order card materials they order, in addition to our goal of using recycled and/or recyclable paper.
  • We are shifting to digital- forward and mobile-first designed resources over creating new print material resources.

Samoas® packages have improved trays using ~17% less plastic:

  • Saving 65k pounds of plastic per season
  • Same cookie count, weight and carton

26% of Thin Mints® case material is recycled content and has 18% less packaging material
